Care Instructions

Your JWS brief is built to last seasons, not weeks. A few simple habits will keep the colour vivid, the fabric supportive, and the hardware sharp.

After every swim
Rinse straight away

Within an hour of leaving the water, rinse thoroughly in cool fresh water. Chlorine, salt, and sunscreen are the three biggest enemies of swim fabric — removing them quickly prevents fibre damage and colour fade.

Don't wring

Press water out gently with a clean towel. Twisting or wringing breaks down the spandex over time and leaves the fabric stretched out of shape.

Air dry flat

Lay flat on a clean towel, away from direct sunlight. UV exposure during drying fades colours and degrades the elastic faster than anything else.

When it needs a proper wash
Hand wash, cold water

Use a mild detergent designed for delicates or activewear. Avoid bleach, fabric softener, and anything containing optical brighteners — these break down both fabric and colour.

Machine wash if you must

Cold cycle, delicates setting, inside a mesh laundry bag. Wash with similar colours only — never with anything containing zips, hooks, or velcro.

What to avoid
✕ The dryer

Heat is the fastest way to ruin swim fabric. Always air dry — no exceptions.

✕ Direct sunlight while wet

Drying in the shade keeps colour vivid for years longer.

✕ Rough surfaces

Concrete, pool decking, rough timber — they pull at the fabric. Towel up first.

✕ Storing damp

Always fully dry before storing — even slight dampness encourages mildew and odour.

For the long haul

Rotate between two or three pairs through summer rather than washing and wearing the same one repeatedly. Swim fabric needs 24 hours to fully dry and recover its shape between wears. Give it that time and your briefs will hold their fit, finish, and colour for seasons to come.
